All of my children have been born somewhat early never making it to the
due date Early on I didn't expect anything different from this little
one, how ever I didn't want to have him super early and end up in the
NICU like my youngest daughter who was born at 32 weeks. I based my
goals and Birth plans around what had happen in her birth that I wanted
different this time around. I made sure everything was in place for my
32 week mark. I was very doubtful I would make it much past that part
since I was having that I'm done feeling since about week 30 and my life
got very stressful around that point when my husband was hospitalized. I
made it to week 32 I was very happy. I truly wanted to make it to 35
weeks since that was the point there was a good chance we could skip the
NICU I made it !!! Now I wanted to make it to 37 weeks since I was told
to get my water birth I had to be at least 37 weeks. I was very nervous
I wouldn't make it specially with Halloween fast approaching and I
expected it to be a very busy walking day and feared I would go into
labor. I didn't want an October baby. I had a few days where I wasn't
feeling great though the month of October and I wanted to slow down and
keep baby in. November 1st arrived I was finally due this month, but not
for 27 days. At this point I felt ready when baby was ! I was ticking
towards my 37 week mark. My 36 week check up I was still high, firm and
closed. Okay we were going to make it to 37 weeks....She told me I was
good to have my water birth if I made it to the weekend November 2nd and
3rd. On the night of the 2nd. my husband and I tried very natural way
of getting things going. I thought for a while this is working !!!! I
decided to rest and see if it kept going on it's own. if it did this was
real !!! Sunday morning I woke up still pregnant. Very disappointed. I
had hope this is made some progress and in a few days come November 5th
or 6th I could try again and baby would be ready !!!! I went to my
appointment on the 5th of November and I had been using the evening
primose oil as well. I was excited to be checked I just knew I had to
have made progress specially now that I was 37 weeks !!!! When she
checked me and told me I was long firm and closed I was very
disappointment and depressed about it all. I didn't feel I could just
bamb going into labor I needed to start making some progress and It may
be a few weeks before I started effacing. The midwife told me see you
next week. I said Maybe before, but she didn't seem to hopeful it would
happen before. I tried some things, but November 5th and 6th came and
went. I was starting to feel this baby would be a December baby or it
would happen on a day I didn't want it to like Thanksgiving day. Nothing
happen Wednesday November 6th came and went and no baby.... I woke up
the morning of the 7th hoping to get some effacement started. I went to
walmart to walk since it was too cold outside but no contractions I felt
some pressure when I sat down, nothing out of the normal.I bought the
baby a Turkey Day onsie but was unsure if he would be here by then. I
went home taped the receipt to the onsie, just in case. I was debating
between "spending time" with my husband to hopfully get the ball rolling
or maybe have some effacement for next weeks appointment and a nap. I
finally decided to spend some time together, but I was too sleepy to try
and keep anything going. I didn't want to dispoint him since I already
mentioned it. I didn't want to go walking or even drink any tea. just
pretty much stayed and bed and bad a few contractions starting about
12:45pm. Totally Braxton hicks style. I was playing on the computer not
napping like I should, but was it the pain or was is that I was too into
what I was doing. 1:30 it still going I decided to take a bath to quite
things down so I can rest before the kids get home. I can't rest but
I'm sure I just have a irritable uterus thanks to what we did. I did
time a few contractions 3-4 mins apart, but some were super strong then
the next one would barly be strong and they were one longer than the
other and then a shorter one nothing totally real to me. I went to
install some batteries in something for the baby... having more
contractions to the point of me throwing a fit with the batteries and
yelling I'm going to take another bath !!! I had message a few friends
no body seemed super convinced I was in labor or if I was it was surly
pretty early not active labor yet. I finally after 3 attempts mention to
hubby about cleaning out the car just in case. I wasn't sure these
contractions were mostly in my hips and upper thighs. I told him we
would wait for the kids to get home to make sure. Alex came in at 3;15pm
and I was thinking this might me it. Then the younger kids at 3:50, by
this time they weren't hurting too bad so I'm sure it getting better. I
get dressed to go pick up Zack's glasses, but I decided to just send
daddy and zack. I'm fine. about 7pm I'm still having these annoying hip
pains that I'm ready to get some rest so I want this to stop, but a few
people have told me maybe I should go in to be checked. I know this
isn't it. I'm sure I'm still closed, but let me call the midwife just to
see what she says. She tells me to drink 2-3 big glasses of water and
put my feet up if I'm not drinking enough or if my bladder is super full
it can cause it. I think she is right so I drink two 16oz bottles with
in 5 mins feel a little sick but manage to keep it down. I keep my
bladder empty the pains in the hips haven't stopped they gotten worse.
I'm not rocking on my hands and knees in my bed which seems to make
matters worse. on a trip to the bathroom I see a little pink on the
Toilet paper. Does this mean this is it ????? cervical change ??? maybe
but I'm sure still early on maybe 1 Cm. I call the midwife to update
her. I ask her if I should wait another hour to see if there any change
she does tell me the blood could still be from the exam on tueday. I'm
sure that's in, but just to play it safe we decided to go in the be
checked so everything I have packed is going in the car. I call my mom
to tell her im bring some kids to her, just going to to be checked it
may be nothing. before leaving I start leaking alot almost seemed like
my water broke, but I'm not sure it could still be my bladder. I put on a
pad for the ride hour drive at this point the pains are pretty intense
and I'm starting to feel like it's my water. I don't want to stop to
drop the kids off so I call her to meet me. Darin drops me and Isabella
of at the ER. I stop by the van holding on the door before able to walk
forward. I tell them I think I'm in labor. I'm still not convinced. they
offer me a wheel chair. I don't want anyone making a big deal If this
is it I'm super early and it going to be a long night. I walk up having
to stop once to get though a contraction. They had me fill out one
little paper and then Darin showed up and I said I'm going to let you
finish this while I go with this nice lady ! they took me to a room ask
for some urine which I though I had to pee but only then that came out
was very bloody fluid. they hooked me to the monitor. I was having some
pretty intense pains I hate contractions in a bed. Beds are evil for
natural births. She came in to check me had a hard time finding my
cervix at first she thought I was just high, but it was because I was
already 8cm !! I couldn't believe it 8cm baby was coming tonight !!!
They got me moved to my room with a tub .. YAY I got my bathing suit top
out out it on and jumped in the tub. I asked for my blow up pillow. and
Cathy walked in got set up and I had 2 contractions in the tub and told
her I had to push. she said go ahead. one push the head was out another
push at 10:19pm our son Mattheus Ayden was born. He was beautiful. I
was in total shock at such a close birth to not making it to the
hospital in time. I was surprised and I think still in disbelief that he
was born when he was. They got me out of he tub we nursed for a good 45
mins minutes before nursery came in and weighed him ect. He weighed in
at 7lbs 5oz and 19inches my biggest baby. I'm totally in love with him.
In shock on how fast everything happened. We arrived at the hospital at
9:50 and he was born 30 mins later. My birth plan was followed. We had a
remarkable birth. My placenta was encapsulated and I got that in today
115 pills. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful baby and family.
